Technical Support/Network Engineer

We currently have an oppor­tunity for a tech­nical position to provide both remote and on-site support to serve our growing client base. This role incor­po­rates user support func­tions as well as network admin­is­tration. The candidate to fill this position will be chal­lenged on a daily basis working in an ener­getic, fast moving, collab­o­rative, demanding and results-oriented work environment.

Tech­nical Experience/Skills Required:

  • Strong trou­bleshooting skills
  • Expe­rience providing desktop support to non-technical users of Microsoft Office and other business applications
  • Expe­rience trou­bleshooting and supporting LANs, WLANs and WANs
  • Expe­rience working with the following network protocols — TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Expe­rience working with Windows 7/XP/Vista and Windows Server 2003/2008
  • Expe­rience providing support for handheld devices including Black­Berry, Palm/Windows Mobile, Apple and Android
  • Expe­rience providing support for networked printers
  • Excep­tional inter­per­sonal skills and the ability to represent Welsh Consulting in a profes­sional manner
  • Excep­tional commu­ni­cation and orga­ni­za­tional skills
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree

Description of the Role:

  • Answer calls from clients and trou­bleshoot issues remotely and on-site
  • Resolve network and desktop issues in a timely fashion to ensure that clients are able to conduct their business without interruption
  • Monitor remote systems through console to ensure uptime and proper functionality
  • Monitor antivirus and Windows updates
  • Run reports to provide client network status
  • Check client backups
  • Coor­dinate with client’s other tech­nology providers (ISP, phone vendor, software vendors, etc) to resolve tech­nical issues that may arise
  • Partic­ipate in tech­nical meetings and R&D efforts
  • Assist with projects when applicable
  • Partic­ipate in emer­gency phone rotation
  • Conduct weekly on-site or remote network main­te­nance (where applicable)
  • Interact and develop rapport with client personnel

Tech­nical Experience/Skills Desired:

  • Expe­rience working with Exchange Server 2003/2007, SQL Server 2000/2005
  • Expe­rience working with backup software, fire­walls, routers, switches, etc.
  • Expe­rience working with virtu­al­ization and shared storage solutions
  • Strong trou­bleshooting and project management/task management skills
  • Microsoft and Cisco certifications
  • Expe­rience imple­menting and main­taining LANs, WLANs and WANs in a business environment
